Restaurant Favorites

Southport Raw Bar, 17th St Causeway
http://www.southportrawbar.com/

This is one of my favorite places to visit during the spring/summertime.  Their oysters are always cold and fresh, and they have one of the best philly cheesesteaks I've ever had!  This is a GREAT place to sit outside on the intercoastal and have some cold beers!

Cafe Martorano, Oakland Park
http://www.cafemartorano.com/

I posted this somewhere else on my blog, but wanted to make sure it was here under Restaurant Favorites.  What a fantastic spot!  Go after 8p on a weekend night and get ready for wonderful food, loud music, and a blast!  Be sure to get their signature meatball with ricotta salata, and their Chicken and Sweet Peppers is to die for!!

The Cheese Course, Weston
http://www.thecheesecourse.com/

Great sandwich, cheese, wine and salad shop.  Small place, but not for a small palate.  My favorite sandwich:  Chicken Salad.  All of their sandwiches, salads and cheeses are fresh, gourmet and one of a kind!

Casablanca Cafe, Fort Lauderdale Beach
http://www.casablancacafeonline.com/

Beautiful ambiance directly on A1A in Fort Lauderdale.  Friday evenings they have live music.  Sit outside on a gorgeous night and sip on their perfectly made "slightly" dirty Grey Goose martinis with bleu cheese stuffed olives!  My favorites:  their scallops, and their Chilean Sea Bass.  Muah!

Le Tub, Hollywood Beach
http://www.theletub.com/

This is one of my favorite spring/summer spots.  Sit outside on the intracoastal, pour yourself a water from an igloo cooler, and drink one of the best pina coladas in town.  This is not a fancy place, by all means.  There is literally a "tub" in the grass, facing A1A.  Le Tub is best known for its gigantic sirloin burgers, but personally I've had better.  I always get their Mediterranean salad.  It is HUGE, and the salad dressing is wonderful.  Warning - this place is cash only.  And not that cheap.

Burger & Beer Joint, Miami Beach
http://www.burgernbeerjoint.com/

This is by far one of my most favorite places in South Florida.  When I lived in Orlando, I was Johnny's Fillin' Station's biggest fan.  Sadly, it was difficult to find as good and cool of a burger joint until I discovered Burger & Beer Joint last week.  Excellent service, great atmosphere, good ole' 90's rock music, and the BEST burgers I've EVER had.  I choose the custom burger with grilled jalepenos, grilled onions, sharp cheddar cheese and crispy bacon.  YUM.

Steak 954, Fort Lauderdale Beach
http://www.steak954.com/

I consider myself a steak person, and when I say steak person, I mean, ketchup & A1 sauce were NEVER an option in our household growing up.  I was eating Pittsburgh rare filets from the age of 10.  That said, I've tried out quite a few steak restaurants and compared.  So far, even above Ruth's Chris and Morton's, Steak 954 had the best filet I can remember eating.  Located in the W hotel, this restaurant also offers great ocean views and two lounges in the hotel for an after dinner cocktail.  Good spot.

Gilbert's 17th Street Grill, Fort Lauderdale, FL
http://www.gilberts17thstgrill.com/

So, I'm starting to see a bit of a trend in these last few restaurant posts....I guess you could say Adam and I like to try new burger places!  Ha!  This place had an outstanding burger - not quite as good as our favorite B&B Joint, but pretty damn close.  And a much quicker drive as opposed to going to South Beach!  I had the Brie Burger with Bacon and Fried Onions and it melted in my mouth.  I ate the whole thing!  Their staff was SOOOO friendly (which is uncommon in East Fort Lauderdale), and their entire menu looked delicious.  Next time I go I'm going to try their quiche of the day and one of their great sounding salads.  Enjoy!

Greek Islands Taverna, Oakland and A1A
http://www.greekislandstaverna.com/

Mmmmm I love good Greek food.  This place is quaint and cozy with a friendly staff and outstanding food.  They bring you homemade hummus and bread which is wonderful.  My personal pics:  Tzatziki, Spanokopita, Horiatiki, and the grape leaves.  Mmm mmm mmmmmm..............
